Future of Governance International Conference Returns to Bucharest on May 7th: A Forum for the Leaders Rethinking Power, Trust and Responsibility

In a global context shaped by geopolitical fragmentation, economic volatility, AI-driven decision acceleration, and declining trust in institutions, the Future of Governance International Conference returns to Bucharest on May 7 for its fifth edition, centered around one of today’s most urgent questions: The Great Governance Reset.

The conference brings together leaders from the public and private sectors, board members, public policy experts, investors and representatives of academia for a conversation about how leadership, legitimacy and accountability must be redefined in an increasingly unpredictable world.

We created Future of Governance as a platform that serves both as a trusted source of insight on governance-related issues and as a space where leaders, particularly board members, can have honest conversations about the difficult decisions of today. At a time when trust is fragmenting, technology is advancing faster than regulation and pressure on decision-makers is creating challenges at every level, we believe Romania must both initiate and actively participate in this global conversation about the future of governance.”, said Carmen Micu, CEO & Co-Founder, Envisia – Boards of Elite

International and Romanian leaders in dialogue on the new architecture of governance

This year’s agenda explores some of the most pressing questions leaders face today: how to rebuild institutional legitimacy, how to prepare organizations for increasingly frequent crises, how to maintain decision integrity under pressure, how to collaborate across generations, and how to preserve human accountability in a world increasingly influenced by artificial intelligence.

The conference will open with a keynote delivered by Tina Fordham, international geostrategist and former Chief Global Political Analyst at Citigroup, who will explore what responsible leadership looks like in a decade defined by geopolitical volatility, global realignments and growing pressure on institutions.

Throughout the day, the agenda will spotlight a series of conversations dedicated to the major themes reshaping governance:

  • Legitimacy and New Power — featuring Bogdan Chirițoiu, President of the Romanian Competition Council, Ștefan Nanu, President of the Supervisory Board of the Romanian Development Bank, and Tina Fordham
  • Crisis-Ready Governance — featuring Andrian Gavriliță, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Moldova, Radu Magdin, CEO of Smartlink Communications, Carmen Micu, Founder and CEO of Envisia, and Alexandru Nazare, Minister of Finance of Romania.
  • Private Integrity, Public Impact — featuring Andrei Stupu, Founder of Andrew Beehive Consulting, Gabriela Crețu, Vice President Sales at Ursus Breweries, and Steven van Groningen, President of the OMV Petrom Foundation.
  • Professionalizing Governance for Modern Financial Ecosystems: The Shift Towards Global Governance Standards — featuring Alexandru Petrescu, President of the Financial Supervisory Authority, Alina Dumitrascu, Head of Legal and Corporate Affairs at PPC Romania, Daniela Biagi, Head of Academy at Euronext Group, and Fedra Ribeiro, Member of the Supervisory Board and Non-Executive Director at Euronext Group, Dr. Gabriela Hârțescu, Dean and Board Member, Envisia.
  • Intergenerational Co-Governance — moderated by Flavia Popa, Secretary General of BRD Groupe Société Générale, alongside Patrick Dunne, Professor OBE and governance expert, Rebecca Robins, global leadership and transformation expert, and Theodora Popa, Vice President of Transavia Group.
  • Governing the Machines — featuring Andreea Bulisache, Board Director and AI & Technology Governance Strategist, Founder of Stratified Advisory, Nada Kakabadse, Professor of Policy, Governance and Ethics at Henley Business School, and Ștefan Baciu, Regional Director, Public Sector Unit at SAS Institute.

“In a landscape defined by systemic transformation, governance is no longer merely a regulatory framework, it has become a critical capability for navigating uncertainty. For leaders and board members, professional experience is no longer a destination, but a foundation for continuous recalibration. Resetting governance ultimately means embedding strategic foresight and ethical decision-making into the very fabric of how long-term value is created.”, said Dr. Gabriela Hârțescu, Dean and Board Member, Envisia.
